Arunachal Govt unanimously passes four bills

The Arunachal legislative assembly on March 4, unanimously passed four bills which were introduced on the first day of the session on February 25.

The four bills included the Arunachal Pradesh Civil Courts Bill, 2021, Arunachal Pradesh Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2021, Arunachal Pradesh Ease of Doing Business Bill, 2021, Arunachal Pradesh Municipal Corporation (Amendment) Bill, 2021.

Reportedly, all four bills were passed by voice vote, with no opposition.

Chief Minister Pema Khandu said that the bill Arunachal Pradesh Civil Courts Bill, 2021 will strengthen laws relating to civil courts for the speedy disposal of civil cases in the state.

Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein said, the Arunachal Pradesh Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2021 was introduced to the assembly to further amend the Arunachal Pradesh Goods & Services Tax Act, 2017 (Act No 7 of 2017) to enable the tax administration to perform more efficiently.

Town Planning & Urban Local Bodies Minister Kamlung Mossang said that the Arunachal Pradesh Municipal Corporation (Amendment) Bill 2021 was brought to necessitate Clause No 8 of the Arunachal Pradesh Municipal Corporation Act, 2019.

Mein, who is also the minister of planning and investment said, the bill Arunachal Pradesh Ease of Doing Business Bill, 2021, aims at providing efficient service to the industrial or service sector undertakings and for achieving the aim of easier implementation of ease of doing business and other matters.

The house also passed the supplementary demands for grants for 2020-2021 and the Arunachal Pradesh Appropriation (No 1) Bill 2021 (Supplementary Demands). (With inputs from Arunachal Times)
