Security forces apprehend UNLF insurgent in Manipur

IMPHAL:

The Assam Rifles, under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South), in a joint operation with Manipur Police, apprehended an insurgent of the proscribed United National Liberation Front (UNLF) from Wangkhei in Imphal East district on March 23.

The 35-year-old UNLF insurgent was identified as Lisham Dayananda Meitei aka Kaocha of Wangkhei Hijam Leikei in Imphal East district. 

The apprehended individual confessed to being an active member of UNLF and that he had joined the banned outfit in 2007.

The apprehended insurgent was handed over to Porompat Police Station for further legal action.
