Tripura: Truck driver dies after highway assault

AGARTALA:

A group of miscreants brutally lynched a truck driver at Ambassa in Tripura’s Dhalai district on Friday evening.

Authorities identified the driver as 54-year-old Pradip Debnath from Assam.

According to police, Debnath was on his way when miscreants in a Bolero car stopped him. They assaulted him and fled with Rs. 40,000.

Nearby residents heard Debnath’s screams and rushed to the spot where they found him on the road in critical condition. They took him to the District Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries at 10 pm.

Police have launched an investigation into the matter.
