AGARTALA:

The Tripura government on February 25 decided to pay three per cent Dearness Allowance (DA) to government employees and pensioners in the state from March 1.

Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath informed that one lakh ninety thousand five hundred and four people including various government employees and pensioners will get three per cent DA.

The government will spend 320 crore rupees in a year.

Nath said that no state in India had paid a DA during the COVID pandemic situation.

He also added that the central government has frozen the DA from January 2020 to July 2021.

Tripura has set an example to other states, the minister claimed.

However, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government has declared the first DA to the state employees and pensioners after coming to power in Tripura in 2018.
