The Tripura Pradesh Congress organised a ‘Hunkar’ rally to protest against unemployment and political controversy in Agartala on Friday.

Though the District Magistrate of West Tripura district had imposed section 144 in Agartala for 48 hours, the Congress party organised the rally after obtaining ‘special permission’.

Congress President Pijush Biswas said that they received special permission from the district administration to organise the rally.

Congress leader from Assam, Sushmita Dev, and other central leaders also attended the rally.

They said that the present government is doing nothing in the state except giving out false promises while Congress supporters chanted slogans against the ruling BJP.

“Tripura BJP is not ready to conduct the ADC election, because they know that if the election will be held they will lose as they (saffron party) is losing their support base,” Sushmita Dev said.
