WILLIAMNAGAR:

A workshop for teachers from the C&RD Block of Songsak was held on Friday at the Loyola College in Williamnagar in East Garo Hills (EGH).

The workshop was organised by the Education Department in collaboration with Meghshala, an e-learning portal that has tied up with the state government for web-based educational content.

Meghshala, through an MOU with the state government, will work on assisting teachers to achieve more with e-learning tools, free of cost, while they conduct normal classes going forward.

The focus on e-learning is to inform and empower teachers, which has become a much-needed skillset.

“Our content is an ever-growing one and has been created by former master teachers. Currently, there is content for students up to Class 8 and follows the NCERT pattern. Our focus is to empower teachers keeping children at the centre and imparting them with social and moral values,” said K Mayopam Chahongnao, Implementation manager at Meghshala Trust.

According to the manager, the training aims to equip them with Meghshala lesson plans and pedagogies so they can have a more lively, interactive classroom with an improved teaching and learning atmosphere.

The training is being funded by Lenovo.

Meghshala is also currently working with the state governments of Karnataka, Manipur and Sikkim with Meghalaya being the latest entrant.
