SHILLONG:

Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong, on Tuesday, informed that they would seek a separate appointment with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who will visit Shillong on January 23 to chair the 69th plenary session of the North Eastern Council (NEC).

While addressing reporters after a special cabinet meeting, Tynsong informed that the delegation of Cabinet Ministers led by the Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma would meet the Union Home Minister.

“We will receive confirmation from his office if he (Union Minister) agrees to meet up separately,” he said.

When asked about some issues they would flag before the Union Home Minister, Tynsong said that there are several pending issues such as the Inner Line Permit (ILP), including Khasi and Garo languages in the Eighth Schedule, among others.

On being asked if NGOs could meet the Union Home Minister, Tynsong said that they have received few applications from the NGOs who wanted to meet the Union Home Minister.

“We have made arrangements for the appointment of the NGOs with the Union Home Minister,” Tynsong said.
