Highlights from Meghalaya Cabinet meet: Awardees for Meghalaya Day Award 2021, Proposal to regularise online gaming

The Meghalaya Cabinet on January 14 discussed the operational guidelines on the fulfilment of the conditions mentioned in the Swacch Bharat Grameen Mission Phase II in respect of the release of funds to the States by the Centre.

Power Minister James Sangma said, “The funds would be released based on state performance indicators to implement the programme and suggested to set-up institutional arrangement for implementation and management of SBGM Phase II.”

Sangma also informed that the State Cabinet has passed a resolution to implement the SBGM phase two and commits timely release of state share for the program.

Based upon recommendations of the advisory committee for the Meghalaya Day Award 2021, the Cabinet approved the three recipients of the award which include prominent artist Raphael Warjri for the ‘U Tirot Sing Award for Arts & Literature,’ Rev DM Sangma for ‘Patogan Sangma Award for Social Service’ and Hame Shaniah Suiam for ‘U Kiang Nangbah Award for sports and games’.

The Meghalaya Cabinet also proposed to regularised online gaming to increase revenue collection by ways of improving the existing taxation acts.
