Manipur: ₹ 34 crore narcotic drugs destroyed in Imphal

The Chief Minister of Manipur N. Biren Singh, on January 14, destroyed contraband substances worth over ₹ 34 crore at Pungdongbam Chingmang in Imphal East District.

Narcotics and Affairs of Border (NAB) and Manipur Police in a joint operation seized the pre-trial drugs and psychotropic substances.

The illicit substances set ablaze by the Chief Minister included heroin powder (2 kg 271 gm 535 mg), Ganja (273 kg 87 gm), 5,80,853 WY tablets, 1,22,696 SP capsules and 530 N-10 tablets.

Chief Minister Biren Singh said, “The state has started the mission ‘War on Drugs’ to end all kinds of drug-related activities in the region.”

The CM also appreciated the efforts of the Manipur police who have foiled major drug trafficking bids in recent time.

Talking about the poppy destruction drive last week, he insisted the farmers to take up alternative cultivation instead of poppy.
