IMPHAL:

The All Tribal Students’ Union Manipur (ATSUM) is calling for a 24-hour total shutdown in Manipur from midnight of March 12 over the delay in issuing the notification for the ADC elections.

Many students’ bodies have come out to support the ATSUM’s call for the 24-hour total shutdown.

The joint students’ body of Churachandpur district, comprising the Zomi Students’ Federation (ZSO) General Headquarters, Kuki Students Organisation (KSO) Churachandpur, Hmar Students & Association (HSA) Imphal Joint Headquarter and Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP), said it fully endorses ATSUM’s proposed 24-hour bandh, in all the hills districts of Manipur in the interests of the tribal populace of the State.

The bandh will be followed by an economic blockade if the government fails to announce the date for the ADC election by March 11.
