More district courts coming up, says Manipur CM N Biren Singh

Chief Minister N Biren Singh, on Tuesday, attended the eighth anniversary of the Manipur High Court and said that the government is committed to strengthening the justice delivery system in the state.

In his address to the gathering, Singh said, “The State Government plans to open more courts in the districts of Manipur that have no courts in a phased manner in consultation with the High Court.”

“We will look into the proposal for the creation of posts of various grades, both for High Courts and District Courts for efficient functioning,” Singh said.

He stated that the government had taken up steps for the development of infrastructure for the court, which includes the allocation of Rs 9 crore in Revised Estimate (RE) 2020-21.

“Rs 21 crore in Budget Estimate (BE) 2021-22, was allotted for the construction of the District Court building at Kakching, Noney and Senapati,” he said.

“For the construction of the Manipur Judicial Academy, Pangei, Rs 5 crore in RE 2020-21 and Rs 10 crore in BE 2021-22 had been allotted,” he added.
