Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, on Thursday, said that the Manipur UK returnee tested negative for the new COVID-19 strain at NIV Pune.

With the vaccine roll out a few days ahead, Singh said that not a single United Kingdom (UK) COVID-19 strain has been detected in the state.

Taking to his official Twitter handle, Singh posted the following tweet, “Happy news, UK returnee is Covid Negative at NIV Pune. So no UK strain at Manipur till today.”

A sample obtained from the returnee was sent to Pune Viral Research and Diagnostic Laboratories(VRDL) for confirmation, and the result came out negative.
