NEW DELHI:

The Government of India is all set to introduce the COVID-19 vaccine within 10 days from the date of emergency use authorisation.

The government took the measures following positive feedback of a dry-run vaccination program held in most states in India.

The Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) on Sunday, had approved two vaccines for restricted use in the country.

Manufacturers first transported the vaccines to four primary vaccine stores in the country called Government Medical Store Depot (GMSD).

The four primary vaccine stores are in Karnal, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata.

The vaccines were then transported in bulk to 37 state vaccine stores and then to districts and finally to Public Health Centres (PHCs), Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said.
