Manipur police nabs KKYL active member in Thoubal district

IMPHAL:

The Manipur Police, on Tuesday, arrested one active member of the banned outfit Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KKYL) from Wabgai Terapishak Maning Leikai area.

Acting on a tip-off, the police team led by Superintendent of Police Dr S. Ibomcha Singh (MPS) and Additional SP(Ops) Sachidananda Soibam nabbed the insurgent group member from his residence after a detailed search operation.

The member identified as Yaikhom Janendro Singh (35) disclosed that he was working under the command of Major Khellemba, Rakesh and James; three other members working for the same outfit.

It was reported that he extorted money from Yairipok areas and was also involved in other illegal activities.

Strangely, Yaikhom was also arrested in the past and was detained under the National Security Act (NSA) but was released from jail in November 2020.

The police meanwhile handed him over to Hiyanglam Police Station(PS) for further interrogation and legal action.
