Illicit drugs, alcohol worth Rs. 5.5 lakh destroyed in Mizoram

AIZAWL: The Minister of the Mizoram Excise and Narcotics Department, Dr K. Beichhua, ordered for a package of drugs comprising heroin and various other psychotropic pills, to be destroyed during a programme at Mara Thyutlia Py (MTP), Siaha Vaihpi Branch office in Siaha district on Monday.

The drugs were seized by the MTP (Mara youth Organisation), Siaha Vaihpi Branch, and included 234 bottles of IMFL and ten litres of local hooch.

Beichhua said he had been fighting the war against drugs as an NGO leader and would continue fighting as a politician.

Meanwhile, he urged the youth “to hold their feet firm on the ground no matter what bouquets and brickbats come their way.”

According to sources, the destroyed drugs were worth Rs. 5.5 lakh.
