Manipur govt signs MoU for dedicated Senior citizens helpline

IMPHAL:

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Social Welfare Department, Government of Manipur, the National Institute of Social Defense, Government of India and Alankit Assignments Limited, New Delhi in the presence of Minister for Social Welfare Henry Okram at a function in Imphal on Thursday.

Minister for Social Welfare, Henry Okram, said, “The toll-free National Helpline for Senior Citizens will be launched for the State under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister N. Biren Singh in February 2021.”

It is said that the Helpline aims at providing grievance redressal mechanism for the senior citizens, information on Government schemes and programs for the welfare of senior citizens besides providing emotional support to help them age happily, he added.

Director (Social Welfare) Ng. Uttam Singh signed the tripartite MoU on behalf of the Government of Manipur and Sanjay Bhat, Assistant Vice President, Alankit Assignments Limited, New Delhi signed on behalf of the Service provider.
