IMPHAL:

The northeastern state of Manipur celebrated its 49th Statehood Day in Imphal with great enthusiasm and ardour.

The state government organised several programmes to mark the occasion at the 1st Battalion Manipur Rifles Parade Ground.

Meanwhile, the state-level function held at the state’s capital served as the major attraction as eight parade contingents from the army performed their march past.

“They have positioned Manipur as a top-performing state in the northeast (according to) the India Innovative Index 2020 released by NITI Aayog,” Chief Minister N. Biren Singh said.

Singh also credited the achievement to the Ministers, MLAs, Chief Secretary, DGP, government employees, CSOs, NGOs, bank employees, media persons and others.

“The recognition given by NITI Aayog is proof that the state is growing in leaps and bounds, there is development at the grassroots level and considerable improvement in law and order,” Singh said.
