Meghalaya CM raises curtain for 50th Statehood celebration in 2022

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Thursday raised the curtain for the 50th-anniversary celebration of Statehood in 2022.

The curtain was raised during the 49th Statehood Day celebration in Shillong today.

"This is a proud day for all Meghalayans as we honour the forerunners who built our State. Today we reaffirm our commitment to work together & build Meghalaya into a knowledge economy & caring society in the years to come," Sangma tweeted.

The Chief Minister also felicitated the awardees of the Meghalaya Day Excellence Award 2021.

"I congratulate all awardees of the Meghalaya Day Award," Sangma tweeted.

The awardees include -- prominent artist Raphael Warjri for the ‘U Tirot Sing Award for Arts & Literature,’ Rev DM Sangma for ‘Pa Togan Sangma Award for Social Service’ and Hame Shaniah Suiam for ‘U Kiang Nangbah Award for sports and games’.

Meghalaya celebrated this day along with sister states of Manipur and Tripura.

Earlier today, President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday extended their best wishes to people of the three Northeastern states of Meghalaya, Manipur and Tripura as they celebrate their 49th Statehood Day today, the 21st of January, 2021.
