Meghalaya: HYC constructs temporary toilet for Nongkynjang sub-centre
NONGSTOIN | SEPT 21, 2020:
The absence of public toilets in Nongkynjang sub-centre has become a major concern to villagers and patients alike.
This sub-centre in Nongkynjang village caters to around 20 villages in Lai Lyngdoh area, 18 kilometres from the District headquarter in Nongstoin.
To remedy this problem, the Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC), Lai Lyngdoh Area Unit, constructed a temporary public toilet for the sub-centre.
The president of HYC WKHD, Lumlang Kharsyiemlieh, said that on Saturday, the unit members of the Council came forward and constructed a temporary toilet inside the premises of the sub-centre.
"The availability of basic health facilities in the sub-centre has made people of the area feel more comfortable, especially pregnant women."
"Earlier, the council demanded the state government through the District Medical & Health Officer WKHD, for the up-gradation of this sub-centre to a PHC, since the area had witnessed rapid population growth," he added.
Meanwhile, the HYC also felicitated the health workers of the sub-centre for their unwavering service to the people of the area.
