Meghalaya: Dasakhiat, Renikton sworn-in as ministers in Conrad-led Cabinet
SHILLONG | OCTOBER 1, 2020:
Mawhati legislator of the National People's Party (NPP) Dasakhiat Lamare and Hill State People's Democratic Party (HSPDP) MLA from Mawkyrwat, Renikton Lyngdoh Tongkhar were sworn-in as ministers in the NPP-led MDA cabinet on Thursday.
Meghalaya Governor Satya Pal Malik administered the oath of office at the swearing-in ceremony held at Raj Bhavan.
Those in attendance included Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong, and other dignitaries.
The 28-year-old NPP MLA from Mawhati also holds the distinction of being the youngest minister.
The Revenue Minister, Kyrmen Shylla, was sworn in at 29 years of age in the year 2018.
Newly inducted minister Renikton Lyngdoh Tongkhar said that he is happy for being allowed to serve the people and assured that he would do so.
Lamare, however, said that there was no prior agreement to take the place of Ymbon.
The NPP MLA from Mawhati said that they inducted him as the minister to represent Ri-Bhoi district in the Cabinet.
