Union Home Minister, Amit Shah has agreed to meet all stakeholders and discuss the controversial Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB).
Shah said this during a meeting with Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma in New Delhi today.
Sangma met Shah to discuss issues related to CAB while expressing concerns over the need to involve all stakeholders on the matter.
It may be mentioned that the BJP led NDA government has decided to re table the CAB in the Parliament in its next session, the decision of which has drawn flaks from the Northeastern states.
Furthermore, Shah has asked the Meghalaya CM to do the necessary coordination with all the stakeholders.
The Chief Minister also discussed matters related to the Amendment to the Sixth Schedule. The Home Minister has asked the State Government to put forth their various issues in writing, which the State has agreed to do so. Conrad also discussed the various concerns raised by the Committee for the Amendment to the Sixth Schedule.
As the National President of the NPP Conrad also discussed with Amit Shah, the political situation unfolding in Manipur and hoped for an early solution.
