Manipur CM to boost health infrastructure in state

IMPHAL | SEPT 21, 2020:

Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, in a message to mark the second anniversary of Ayushman Bharat PM Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) on September 23, informed that Jiribam CHC, Nambol CHC, Shija Eye Care and Moirang CHC would be empanelled and that there will be an increase in the money sanctioned for medical treatment.

To commemorate the second anniversary, the Chief Minister will also launch the state health agency website.

Chief Minister Biren Singh said that the PMJAY is the largest health insurance scheme and the state of Manipur has 1,40,008 eligible beneficiaries of which 2,70,000 are enrolled.

Under this scheme, a family can avail cashless benefits up to Rs 5 lakh a year for medical treatment.

The state government also started another health scheme under the CMHT (Chief Ministergi Hakselgi Tengbang).

This will allow widows, physically challenged individuals, AAY cardholders, local media persons, newspaper hawkers, drivers and all who fall under the BPL (people below poverty line) category to avail cashless benefits of up to Rs 2 lakh.

Around 37,370 cases have received treatment worth Rs 4 crore 30 thousand under CMHT, Singh said.

People requiring kidney dialysis, chemotherapy, gall bladder removal including pregnant mothers are primary beneficiaries of the scheme.
