Kohima Police in action: 2.59 crore worth vehicle recovery in 7 months!
KOHIMA: The increase in car burglary has raised alarm on the rise of regular property-related crimes in Nagaland. The anti-vehicle theft squad, Kohima Police within a time frame of seven months recovered 37 stolen vehicles worth Rs 2.59 crore from Kohima region alone.
A total of 32 persons have been nabbed in this connection. The counter vehicle burglary squad was constituted on March 19, 2015 under the direct managerial control of SDPO Kohima to anticipate, identify and explore a wide range of vehicle robbery cases.
The recouped vehicles involved 2 trucks, 1 smaller than expected transport, 5 Mahindra boleros, 4 Mahindra pick-ups, 4 Mahindra Scorpios, 1 Tata portable, 2 Tata sumo, 1 Tata safari, 1 Ashok Leyland get, 2 Maruti 800, 1 Maruti Swift Dezire, 1 Maruti Wagon R, 1 Maruti Zen, 1 Honda City, 1 Maruti Alto, 1 Hyundai Santro, 1 Maruti Van and 7 cruisers, said police source
Out of 37 stolen vehicles which have been recouped by the group, 15 vehicles has been as of now discharged to the legitimate proprietor according to the request of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Kohima while the remaining 19 vehicles which were accounted for stolen according to the NCRB database are still in care and anticipating reports and freedom from other State law authorizing organizations for case and assuming control of the stolen vehicles.
While vowing to proceed with its endeavor to check and recuperate stolen vehicles, Kohima police has additionally asked for all the vehicle proprietors to take important precautionary measures and illuminate the police at the soonest conceivable time if there should arise an occurrence of any vehicle burglary.
