Indefinite economic blockade along Assam- Nagaland Border

GUWAHATI: Simmering tension has once again engulfed the Assam- Nagaland border after eight civil organizations of Assam has declared against the neighbouring state. The protest against Nagaland started after the body of  a car driver from Sivasagar district identified as Arpan Das found murdered in Kohima of Nagaland by suspected Naga miscreants.

Arpan Das was missing since the last few days after he had gone to Nagaland for some work.

The organizations have demanded rigorous punishment for the guilty along with a compensation of Rs. 10 lakh to the family of the deceased.

Notably, in the wee hours of Wednesday morning, a group of Naga miscreant cut down 600 rubber trees of a rubber farm in the Assam territory. It is reported that the miscreants also threatened the villagers to vacate the villages. Following the incident, thousands of villagers have fled to safer zones.
