Former RJD MP Mohammad Shahabuddin and accomplices Rajkumar Sah, Sheikh Aslam, and Arif Hussain have been sentenced to life imprisonment by the Special Court in Siwan in connection with the brutal murder of two brothers.
Shahabuddin has been found guilty in the 2004 kidnapping of brothers Girish Raj and Satish Raj, giving them an acid bath, and murdering them. The politician elected to the Bihar Assembly twice and four times to the Lok Sabha on Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) ticket, was convicted on charges of criminal conspiracy, kidnapping, and murder.
Additional District Judge Ajay Kumar Srivastava awarded the life sentence to Shahabuddin and his three accomplices in connection with the 2004 case. The statement for life imprisonment was announced in the presence of Shahabuddin while the other accused did not come to court.
The defence counsel raised the issue that the murder of the brothers took place on August 16, 2004 when Shahabuddin was already in jail. So if he was present at the crime scene or has played any role behind the murder, then the jail administration also should be made accused in this case. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 on Mohammad Shahbuddin in the case.
