COVID-19 claims two more lives in Meghalaya

SHILLONG | SEPT 21, 2020:

Meghalaya registered two more COVID deaths on Monday, bringing up the total number of fatalities to 38. Informing this, the Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War, informed that 46-year-old Joytika Ghosh of Upper Jail Road passed away in Nazareth Hospital on September 19.

According to Dr Warr, the deceased initially tested positive at Woodland Hospital and was referred to Nazareth Hospital. Dr. Warr informed that the second case was 48-year-old Jyotimoi Sharma from Tripura who passed away in NEIGRIHMS on September 19. Sharma was admitted at NEIGRIHMS on September 8.

The Director of Health Services also informed that they received information concerning a 75-year-old COVID-19 patient identified as Ranjit Kumar Das from Karimganj, Assam who had gone to NEIGHRIMS for treatment. "He expired on Monday at around 10 am. His death will not be counted in Meghalaya because he had tested positive for the virus in Assam," Dr. Warr said.

Meanwhile, Meghalaya recorded 73 fresh COVID-19 cases taking the tally of active cases to 2,169. The total number of recoveries stands at 2,527.
