Dance India Dance, one of the most popular and most watched dance shows across India just wound up with Pronita Swargiary, a Bodo girl, being declared the winner of the Fifth Season, reports suggest. Although the show finale is yet to be aired, reports have poured in about Pronita's win. The top five finalists included Kaushik Mandal, Ashish Vashisht, Nirmal Tamang, Sahil Adanaya and Pronita Swargiary.
Originally hailing from the Bodoland Territorial Area District (BTAD), Pronita won the 'Tagdir Ki Topi' by accumulating around 35 lakhs votes, thereby winning the competition. She is the first ever from Assam and even from the Northeast to have won the competition.
Since the start, Pronita successfully charmed the judges and the audience in the show with her talent. She also succeeded in receiving immunity and survived till date in the show.
In a similar show, Assam's Nahid Afrin lost in the finale of the popular singing reality show- Indian Idol Junior recently. Odisha girl Ananya Nanda lifted the trophy of the second season of singing reality show "Indian Idol Junior".
Meanwhile, Naga girl – Gloria Tep was recently declared the second runners up in the first season of the popular model hunt- India's Next Top Model. Born to a Naga mother and a Malayali father, Gloria is the first contestant from the Northeast in the competition.
