While Speaking to TNT- The Northeast Today over phone from New Delhi, Former Editor of Daily Desher Katha and member of CPI(M) Central Committee, Goutam Das said, "A Writ Petition has been filed in Tripura High Court on behalf of Daily Desher Katha against the illegal order of District Magistrate, West Tripura for stopping publication of the newspaper and also against RNI for illegal withdrawal of Registration. We are confident about our victory".

The RNI last week in an order scrapped the registration of  'Daily Desher Katha' over alleged dissimilarities over the name of the publisher , editor and place of publications which made the newspaper liable for violation of Press and Registration Act of 1867.

Over the issue the ruling BJP has made its stance clear that the decision taken by the authorities was after a complaint raised by a private individual against the irregularities in the newspaper.

"The government nor any party has any sort of role in the decision. It was done by the authorities when even after calling several times by the administration of 'Daily Desher Katha' newspaper could not prove their case and the complaint was made by a private, independent individual. What role do we have?" said Education Minister, Ratan Lal Nath.
