NONGSTOIN:

This is a story of stone crushers of Mawrok Porsohsat village in West Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya. Mawrok Porsohsat village is located 6 km from Nongstoin, the headquarters of West Khasi Hills. It is arguably the first village in the district to start 'stone crushing' since 1972 and is still in existence till date.

Large number of people, mostly women, are seen sitting in temporary shelters with a chisel and hammer in their hands, toiling day and night at a stone quarry on the roadside of Nongstoin-Shillong road.
