MUMBAI:

The Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2020-21 has reached the quarter-final stage, and the quality of cricket on display has been of top-level.

What comes as a surprise in the tournament is that while the big names and teams have struggled, it is the new unknown faces that have excelled and made a mark in the tournament.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) teams this time will look at the players from the SMAT 2020 season for possible inclusion during the auction starting from February 18, 2021.

The fresh faces have displayed quality cricket, which has drawn the attention of the different franchises this year, who may place their bets on them.

A few of the players who will probably attend the auction this year include Mohammad Azharuddeen (Kerala), Jalaj Saxena (Kerala), Avi Barot (Saurashtra), Sheldon Jackson (Pondicherry), Chetan Sakariya (Saurashtra), Sachin Baby (Kerala), Lukman Meriwala (Gujarat) and Prerak Mankad (Saurashtra).

Others may be considered for the auction, but for now, the IPL 2021 will have many fresh faces.
