Shillong Cricket Association-A wins Meghalaya inter-district U-23 tournament

The Shillong Cricket Association-A (SCA) defeated Tura District Cricket Association-A (TDCA) by a record 177 runs in the final match of the Meghalaya inter-district U-23 tournament in Mendipathar on Sunday.

The SCA team posted an impressive total of 187 runs in the first innings courtesy of some great batting by Swastic Chettri (44), Ashif Khan (55) and Abhisek Gupta (37).

TDCA-A crumbled miserably to the aggressive bowling attack of Abhishek Kumar, who rattled through the top-order with eight wickets, while Lokesh Turaha and Bipin Ray shared one wicket each.

Tura could only manage a meagre total of 62.

In the second innings, SCA-A scored 141 runs and dismissed TDCA for 89 runs.

The third and final day resumed with only three wickets needed to win the match, Turaha (3/12) got all the remaining wickets.

Abhishek Kumar, who clinched nine wickets and showed an all-round performance in the batting department, was declared man-of-the-match.

Meghalaya Cricket Association secretary Gideon Kharkongor presented the trophy to SCA-A captain Abhishek Gupta following the impressive victory.
