NorthEast United FC announces plan to invest in youth setup and football academy

NorthEast United FC, on Wednesday, announced its plans to invest in strengthening the existing coaching setup, improving the scouting network and setting up of a comprehensive academy in the northeast region.

"Our focus is to build a structure that will scout, nurture and groom talent from the region that can feed into the first team. The club has already recruited some top coaches and scouts and is laying out the foundations for a comprehensive academy," the club stated in a press release.

"With this as a core focus, Khalid Jamil will be leading this effort. Khalid has been an instrumental part of selecting the Indian talent for this season’s first-team squad, and the club wants him to continue to identify and mentor young footballers back home," stated the release.

"Our core belief has always been to provide the talent from the region a platform to showcase their skills, and we look forward to unearthing many more stars," it added.
