Meghalaya Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui, on Tuesday, November 24, informed that classroom teaching for classes IX to XII would resume from November 30.

While addressing reporters, Rymbui said they had decided that classroom teaching in rural areas would also resume for classes VI to VIII except in places like Khanapara and Nongpoh in Ri Bhoi, and Jowai in West Jaintia Hills.

“We have taken this decision after taking into account the disparity of the online classes, especially among students in rural areas. The penetration of online classes is only 30 per cent in the state,” Rymbui said.

He further informed that they had extended the current academic session till February next year.

Rymbui, however, did not comment on whether they would promote students from nursery to class IX.
