BJP leader and convener of the North-East Democratic Alliance (NEDA), Himanta Biswa Sarma has ruled out the possibility of any change in leadership in the state of Manipur.

Sarma was reacting to a question on the Manipur political turmoil, during a press briefing at the NHM office in Assam today.

Downplaying the seriousness of the issue, Sarma said that the situation in Manipur is under control and talks are on with the National People's Party (NPP) even as he maintained that things are going in the right direction and everything will be resolved in the "spirit of NEDA and NDA".

The BJP in Manipur suffered a major blow recently following the resignation of three BJP MLAs and the decision of six legislators including four NPP ministers, to withdraw support from the N Biren Singh-led government.

Sarma will be visiting Imphal in Manipur again tomorrow to assess the political situation in the state. "Things are going well and everything will be in place in 2-3 days," he said.

It may be mentioned that the Meghalaya Chief Minister and NPP National President, Conrad K Sangma also visited Imphal on Sunday, June 21 to hold meetings with the party MLAs.
