Tripura unrest: Curfew extended in parts of West Tripura, FIR against 3 persons

Prohibitory orders were imposed on Wednesday in parts of West Tripura after 6 persons were seriously injured in firing between the security personnel and civilians taking part in the Northeast Bandh on January 8.

The incident took place in ripura's Madhabbari and nearby areas.

Despite the observance of a Northeast Bandh, the controversial Citizenship Amendment Bill was passed in the Lok Sabha yesterday. The Rajya Sabha is expected to vote on it today.

The Scroll reported that Sub-Divisional Police Officer Prankrishna Das said the police launched a search operation at the Madhabbari and Dasharambari areas of West Tripura district on Tuesday night and seized a country-made gun and a machete. "The situation is completely under control now," Das said.

It was also reported that an FIR has been lodged against three persons for disrupting peace and order but no one had been arrested till the filing of this report.
