Tripura Students' Federation (TSF) of North East Students' Organization (NESO), today observed Black Day over the incident of open firing on protesters that took place exactly a year ago during a peaceful protest over the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) last year.
Hundreds of supporters today joined the rally held at Dasharam in Madabbari Tripura.
Top Indegeneous leaders including Anthony Debbarma, C R Debbarma, Upendra Debbarma, Animesh Debbarma along with the Royal scion of Tripura Pradyot Kishore Manikya were present in the rally and mass gathering.
Royal sion of Tripura, during his speech at the event today said that it is to be learned to protest against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in a united and peaceful manner. He added that if the protest against CAA includes violence, it will give a chance to third party to allege the people of Tripua as miscreants and violent.
He emphasised that the land of Tripura is 'ours' and every person in Tripua will oppose CAA as the people know their rights.
He also announced that his newly formed non political party TIPRA will organise a rally in Khumulwng on January 11, and invited everyone to join the rally to protest against CAA. He also added that if needed the he will also appeal to the Supreme Court against the implementation of CAA.
He also appealed to the supporters present in the rally to peacefully protest against CAA and to avoid violence.
A huge team of Police, CRPF and TSR deployed to maintain the law and order situation in Khumulwng but no untoward incident took place.
