Tripura Road Transport Corporation Motor Workers Union has decided to approach the High Court for realization of their longstanding demand for introduction of pension and leave encashment.

The workers are aggrieved as the state government has recently rejected the recommendations of an expert committee constituted as per direction of the High Court. The committee headed by Joint Transport Commissioner had recommended in favor of granting these benefits to the employees.

The workers have expressed grave concern over the attitude of the state government and decided in a general meeting that apart from approaching the High Court they also will continue their agitation program.

Samar Roy, president of the union said on several occasions the state government had agreed with the demands in principal and assured of considering with sympathy. But no action has been taken to implement it.

The union also demanded regularization of the irregular employees, providing employment to next-to-kin of the deceased employees.
