AGARTALA | Jan 07:

Tripura royal scion, Pradyot Manikya Deb Barman today informed that his newly formed non political party —
The Indigenous Progressive Regional Alliance (TIPRA) will conduct its first ever rally in protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act on January 11 at Khunglung.

He informed this during a live session on Facebook this evening.

He said that the rally was supposed to be conducted on January 8, 2020 but since the Tripura Students Federation (TSF) will be holding a rally on the same day, the date was postponed to January 11.

He also extended his support to TSF for the rally to be held on 8 January 2020 to mark the anniversary of the Madhabbari firing incident in West Tripura where five anti-CAB protestors were injured.

He also clarified that TIPRA's rally is to protest against the CAA and is nothing political. Deb Barman, who is also the former president of the Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) also said that after the formation of TIPRA, he has not kept any relation with Congress Party.

The royal scion also stated that he support all the protests by several political parties against the CAA even as he demand exemption of Tripura from purview of the act.

While describing TIPRA as a non-political social movement, Deb Barman said that TIPRA is formed to create a pressure on the ruling party to fulfill the promises which are made by the parties before coming into power.
