Tripura govt to impose 7-day lockdown in Indo-Bangla border

AGARTALA | JULY 15, 2020:

With the rise in the number of COVID-19 cases, the Tripura Government has decided to impose a 7-day lockdown on the Indo Bangla border from July 17.

According to a government notification released by Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar that there is some spread of Covid-19 in border areas of the state which has posed a major threat to public health, hygiene, and safety of the people.

The lockdown will be imposed in the rural areas within one kilometer of the Indo-Bangladesh border and within half a kilometer from the border in urban areas, said a government notification.

However, grocery, medical shops, and essential services will open and only people with emergencies will be allowed to move. 

All business establishments, private offices, shops, places of worship would remain closed.

It is to be mentioned that Tripura has crossed the 2000 mark as 90 new cases of COVID-19 have been reported in the state.
