Tripura: Decomposed body of youth recovered in Damcherra

A decomposed body of a youth was recovered few days ago in Damcherra under Panisagar Subdivision in North Tripura district.

The deceased has been identified as Batala Reang(18), an inmate of Reang refugee camp and a laborer by profession. His body was recovered from a locked building which was occasionally used by local traders organization in Tripura.

Soon after the recovery of the dead body, over 150 'angry' youths attacked the office building and also ransacked few shops which were located nearby.

After being informed about the incident, Additional Superintendent of Police, Francis Darlong rushed to the spot and had a tripartite meeting. He had also urged the people residing in the area to remain calm and maintain peace.

Following the incident, tribal organization in the state including Bru Socio-cultural Organization, Association of Young Uchoi, Rupini Social Organization, Mog Social Organisation and Minority Welfare Organization went to the local Police Station and demanded investigation over the matter.

A delegation of Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee is expected to visit Damcherra today to take cognizance of the situation.
