Tripura: Congress supporters stage protest against attack on party office

Congress workers and leaders launched a stir to protest the attack on the Unakoti district Congress office allegedly by ruling BJP supporters today.

The protests were held in Kailasahar where protestors blocked the road from Kailasahar till Kumarghat.

It may be mentioned that the Unakoti district Congress office came under attack from some miscreants suspected to be supporters of the ruling party on Wednesday.

On Wednesday, delegation of Congress leaders and supporters also protested against the alleged disparity in distribution of flood relief among the victim families.

They submitted a memorandum before the district authority of Animal Resource Development Department (ARDD) in this regard.

The delegation of Congress leaders also submitted some information regarding the "disproportion" in which some non-affected families of the locality also received flood relief compensation due to their political connections.

Sources said that after the delegation of the district Congress submitted the memorandum, a group of ruling BJP supporters allegedly attacked the district Congress office and vandalized the entire premises.

Congress leader and former PCC president Birajit Sinha said that when the Congress workers had shown the data of political appeasement in distribution of flood relief before the authorities of ARDD and this prompted the BJP activists to allegedly start attacking the district party office.

In protest against the attack, hundreds of Congress supporters blocked the Kailasahar-Kumarghat road and demanded immediate arrest of all miscreants responsible for the attack on the Congress office.
