Tripura Congress announces 12-hour statewide bandh on Sept 21

Tripura's  Congress leaders on Sunday, announced a 12-hour statewide bandh on September 21, protesting against the extreme anarchy in the state during the two-and-a-half years of the BJP rule.

Senior leaders, from the party such as All India Congress Committee ( AICC) Secretary Bhupen Bora, Pijush Subal Biswas, Kanti Bhowmik, Gopal Roy and Birajit Sinha decided to call for the bandh in the state, on the said date.

Piyush said, "the BJP party is gagging the democracy. He added that after the BJP government formed in the state, there is no freedom of speech, no one can raise their voice against the government."

"After the Lok Sabha poll, the BJP backed goons carried out a series of attacks on our party leaders including Birajit Sinha, Gopal Chandra Roy, and many more. Thus the party has decided to protest against the BJP-led government's misrule and mismanagement," he alleged.

Biswas said, "the party has also demanded Rs 10 lakh and better services to the family of the deceased due to COVID-19."

He also demanded that the government provide alternative jobs to 10,323 teachers and compensation for people living on the Indo-Bangladesh border.
