Bus owners’ association in Tripura has called for a strike across the state from February 26, demanding the state government to revise the bus fare.

According to sources with the delayed response of the government in complying with the demands of the association, an indefinite strike has been called for.

The Tripura bus owners’ association said that the COVID-19 pandemic which has disrupted economies since last year and with the increasing fuel prices is just adding more pressure every day.

On February 6, the association submitted a memorandum demanding fare rates to be increased, a deadline was given to the state government which expired with no traction towards their demand. This has made the bus owners’ association call the indefinite strike.
