This village on the Tripura-Mizoram border comes under the Centre’s attention

Phuldungsai, a village on the Tripura-Mizoram border, has landed under centers jurisdiction ahead of the Mizoram village and local council polls, scheduled for August 27.

Falling under Tripura, but dominated by the Mizo population of about 1,064 people, with ten villages on the Jampuiu Hills, it has the highest peak Betlingchip the key tourist destination in Tripura.

Tripura Sub-divisional magistrate, Chandani Chandran, wrote to the District Magistrate(North Tripura) that there is an "urgent need to demarcate the exact boundary between Mizoram and Tripura incorporating the entire Phuldungsai VC in Tripura".

The dispute of resettling the Bru communities and demarcation of the Tripura-Mizoram state boundary has remained unresolved, said the official.

Meantime, Tripura royal descendant Pradyot Manikya Debbarman, also chairman of Indigenous Progressive Regional Alliance, said that the matter has been forwarded to Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb.
