The Future of Air Power: IAF Rafale jets
NEW DELHI | JULY 29, 2020:
The Minister of Defence, Rajnath Singh, on Wednesday, July 29 welcomed the first batch of five medium multi-role combat aircraft (MMRCA), Rafale jets after they landed in Ambala airbase.
"The birds have entered the Indian airspace. Happy Landing in Ambala," Singh said while congratulating the Indian Air Force (IAF).
"I am sure that 17 Squadron, the Golden Arrows, will continue to live up to their motto of Udayam Ajasram," he said and expressed his happiness on the fact that the IAF's combat capability has received such a timely boost."
He further added that the touchdown of the Rafale jets in India marks the beginning of a new era in military history.
"The jets will revolutionize the capabilities of the IAF," he said.
"The IAF will become much stronger. And this will deter any threat that may to the country," he added.
Singh also lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi for making the right decision.
He also thanked the French Government, Dassault Aviation, and other French companies for the timely delivery despite the severe restrictions posed by the ongoing pandemic.
Meanwhile, the captain of the Indian Naval Ship (INS) Kolkata, welcomed Rafale Arrow Leader in the Indian Ocean by saying, "May you touch the sky with glory."
Two SU30 MKIs escorted the five Rafale jets as they entered Indian airspace.
A formal induction ceremony is scheduled to be held in the second half of August.
