Stage set of Phase 3 Lok Sabha polls in Tripura

Keeping eye on the upcoming Lok Sabha election scheduled to be held on April 23 in the East Tripura Parliamentary seat, security is beefed up ahead of polls. Security measures have been tightened to avoid any form of law and order problem that was countered with during the phase 1 polls in West Tripura Parliamentary Seat.

As the campaign for the East Tripura Parliamentary seat ended, section 144 has been imposed which culminates the moving of more than five people in a group with weapons. The international border with Bangladesh has also been sealed and the inter-state border with Assam and Mizoram has also been sealed to avoid any illegal intrusion.

18 company CRPF, 881 TSR, 555 Police force will also be deployed across the entire East Tripura Parliamentary seat jurisdiction. The vote cast will begin from Tuesday morning 7 am.

There are all together 10 candidates that filed nomination papers in this constituency. Apart from five independents, there is also one candidate each from BJP, Congress, IPFT, CPI (M) and Amra Bangalee party.

Election in East Tripura Lok Sabha parliamentary constituency will be carried out in 7 assembly constituencies. Polling will be held in 359 polling stations in 285 areas. Among them 5 are being identified as very sensitive zones and 138 are sensitive zones. 30 polling stations will be completely monitored by women.

There are total 2, 90,438 voters and among them 1,47,642 are male voters and 1,42,791 are female voters. Two general observers will also be present to monitor the expenditure.
