Soon, potable water for every household: Meghalaya CM

The Meghalaya Government is in full swing to provide potable water to the people of the State through the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM).

“The process has already started through the JJM. It is a massive task since we started with only one per cent of the households who are connected with water supply,” said CM, Conrad K. Sangma.

According to the Chief Minister, the Public Health Engineering (PHE) department in a matter of a few months has crossed almost 14 per cent.

“We will try our best to achieve the 100 per cent target of providing potable water to the citizens in the coming years,” said Sangma.

It may be recalled that the High Court had stated Meghalaya does not have any scheme or policy of its own to ensure that every village in the state is provided with easy access to potable and arsenic-free drinking water.
