Sikkim’s 1st MMA fighter wins title belt in 7th International MMA Championship

In a record of sorts, the first Mixed Martial Arts fighter from Sikkim, Passang Sherpa , Son of Mingma Tshering and Norkit Lepcha, has won the title belt in 7th International MMA Championship held in Delhi on May 4- 5.

23-year-old Passang is from Limbang village of Tashiding in West Sikkim and has been practicing martial arts since the age of twelve, he informs.

The event was organized by United World Mixed Martial Arts Federation.
Passang participated in Open MMA Championship held at Mumbai in January and this was his second big competition.

He has returned bringing home his title.

Thanking all the support that has been coming from Sikkim, he has stated that more encouragement and support is required in the feild of martial arts which not just disciplines an individual but can also divert youth to a progressive path.
