GANGTOK | Aug 5, 2019:

The war of words between the ruling Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) and the Opposition (Sikkim Democratic Front) continues over the budget session which ended on August 2 besides other issues.

In continuation with its tirade against the ruling party, the SDF alleged the SKM of cheating the people of Sikkim with misinformation and for allegedly leveling allegations on the previous government in the first budget session.

The opposition SDF party asserted that the Budget Session should be for sustainable development of Sikkim and for the basic needs of the people and for economic, social and educational development but "the ruling government had worked exactly opposite to it with a pre-planned conspiracy of pointing out achievements and development achieved by the people of Sikkim in the SDF government," read a press release issued by SDF spokesperson, JB Darnal.

Darnal lambasted the RMDD Minister Sonam Lama, who on the fourth day of the assembly session, had alleged that the then Chief Minister and leader of the House, Pawan Chamling had called him "anti-national" for raising the voice of the people in the earlier government.

SDF questioned that why Sonam Lama had not approach the court on such serious allegations by the leader of the house of the earlier government. The release further questioned that why he had not inform the Union Home Ministry about the issue to get the justice.

The opposition party asserted that raising of this issue by Sonam Lama suddenly in the assembly has created doubts. It is further alleged that the act has exposed the double standard of Sangha MLA Sonam Lama.

"SKM has been trying to mislead the people by raising the issue of corruption by alleged the earlier government for the corruption in the five-day long assembly session," alleged SDF.
