Sikkim: Meeting held to review state govt’s plan in line with new MHA guidelines

GANGTOK | APRIL 30, 2020:

Sikkim Chief Secretary S C Gupta today chaired the State COVID-19 Task Force meeting to review the State Government's plan of action in line with the new guidelines issued by the Union home Ministry.

Gupta informed that Secretary, Coordination (COVID-19) Ringzing Bhutia has been appointed as the State Nodal Officer to liaison with officers of other states to facilitate the return of people from Sikkim stranded outside.

The Chief Secretary stressed on the need to finalize arrangements to quarantine people coming from outside the state.

The newly prepared online registration portal was presented on the occasion. The portal would facilitate the transit of stranded people to the state.

District Collectors informed about the level of preparedness in each district and provided their feedback on the online registration portal. They also informed about quarantine facilities being arranged in each district. Groups of frontline workers and stakeholders will be constituted to monitor people under quarantine.

The Health Department shared its strategy for testing people entering Sikkim. A medical team will assess each individual, based on which they would be sent for quarantine in coordination with the District Collectors.
